Which MYK Laticrete adhesive type for which application?
Type 1 is suited to standard ceramic tiles up to roughly 12×12 inches on dry interior floors. Type 2 handles vitrified tiles. Type 3 is for heavy-duty walls and floors. Type 4 is for swimming pools, exteriors, and glass tile. Type 5 is the high-performance bond for the most demanding installations.
Epoxy grout vs cementitious grout — which to pick?
Epoxy grout (e.g., MYK SpectraLock) is waterproof, stain-resistant, and premium — best for bathrooms, kitchens, and high-traffic areas. Cementitious grout is economical, comes in a wider colour range, and is fine for dry-area or budget applications.
How much tile adhesive do I need for 100 sq ft?
Roughly 5–7 kg of dry adhesive per 100 sq ft for standard ceramic-tile installations. For vitrified or large-format tiles, account for around 10 kg. Always cross-check with the bag's coverage spec.
Can I use tile adhesive on existing tiles for a tile-over-tile job?
Yes — but you must use a higher-grade adhesive (Type 3 or above) and prepare the existing surface properly. Sand the glossy face for grip, clean thoroughly, and check that the original tiles are firmly bonded.
